Ideal world – stay awake and alert, in that restful state. But even if you do fall asleep (I normally have at least one person snoring when teaching groups – if you need to sleep, that’s what you NEED. It’s all good), that’s fine.
If you are able to stay alert and harness that in between sleep and wakefulness state, some say 30 minutes of yoga nidra is equal to 2 hours’ sleep.
And the sankalpa element will help you be fully congruent around your new moon intentions and more likely to take those practical steps towards your goals.
